Welcome to Practical Threat Analysis (PTA) - a calculative threat modeling methodology and a threat risk assessment tool that assist security consultants and analysts in assessing the operational and security risks in their systems and building an appropriate risk mitigation policy. The role of a practical threat analysis process is to identify system vulnerabilities, map system assets, asses the risk of the threats and define an effective risk mitigation plan for a specific system architecture, functionality and configuration. Latest Updates of PTA Professional Edition Risk Assessment Tool

Latest Version: 1.60 Build 1214 - ontains an updated code signing certificate (issued by VeriSign, Inc) that replaces the older certificate which has been expired on 19 December 2011. Users who encounter difficulties in running PTA after this date are invited to download and install the latest cumulative update.

Latest Support Notes: if you encounter problems when trying to run PTA for the first time after installation, please check section 8 in PTA support page which includes updated solutions regarding difficulties in running PTA on machines with Office 2007/2003 installed and other known issues.

Next Release, scheduled to the end of February 2012, will provide advanced export capabilities enabling the transfer of PTA Professional Edition threat models and libraries to external data processing and data mining systems.
